Top-four positioning and the chance to participate in the FA Cup is the goal for Brentford this season and Watford too. This will be the first leg of this match and a victory for Brentford could allow the Bees to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Neither team has found the net in three consecutive games but defensive shortcomings have cost each side. Brentford was forced to defend for longer than needed during last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat by Burnley. Yann Kermorgant and Jamie O’Hara contributed to the gaffe that led to the Clarets’ winner.
Watford was shut out by Spurs in a 1-0 reverse on Sunday. Harry Kane’s third league goal of the campaign resulted in the Watersiders’ third consecutive defeat. Marco Silva’s men have labored in attack as they need to regroup for Tuesday’s encounter. Brentford hasn’t been overly dominant so far this season but Paul Clement’s men could make it to third place if they manage a victory.
